As the Senior Engineering Manager for the Redis AI API team, you’ll play a key leadership role in shaping the future of Redis by driving the integration of cutting-edge AI capabilities into our cloud platform. You’ll oversee a growing, high-performing team of engineers—including other managers and senior individual contributors—guiding them from strategic planning through to production deployment.

This is a unique opportunity to influence the direction of Redis’ AI initiatives at scale. The team is quickly continuing to expand, you’ll help build the next generation of AI-native features on one of the world’s fastest databases. You’ll work at the intersection of product innovation, technical execution, and organizational leadership.

 

What you’ll do: 

  • Lead and Scale a High-Impact Team. Provide strategic and technical leadership for a growing AI team, including managers and senior engineers. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Drive Technical Vision. Partner with senior stakeholders to define and execute the long-term vision for Redis AI in the cloud, balancing innovation with operational excellence.
  • Mentor and Develop Talent. Support the professional growth of your reports—both ICs and EMs—through mentoring, feedback, and performance management.
  • Partner Across the Organization. Collaborate closely with Product, DevOps, Support, and other engineering teams to deliver reliable and scalable AI services to our customers.
  • Hire for Scale. Own hiring strategy and execution to grow a world-class engineering team, ensuring the right mix of skills, experience, and diversity.
  • Contribute Strategically and Technically. Participate in architectural reviews, operational strategy, and, when needed, roll up your sleeves to understand the details.

 

What will you need to have?

  • 8+ years of experience in backend software engineering, with 4+ years in engineering leadership roles including managing managers or senior-level ICs.
  • Proven success building and scaling high-performing teams in a fast-paced, cloud-native environment.
  • Experience setting technical direction and executing cross-functional initiatives at scale.
  • Strong people leadership skills with a passion for mentoring and talent development.
  • Hands-on experience with backend systems, distributed services, and production deployments.
  • Familiarity with database technologies and experience shipping high-quality software using languages like Golang, Java, rust, or Python.
  • Proficiency with modern CI/CD and infrastructure tooling (e.g. GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Kubernetes, Terraform).

 

Extra great if you have: 

  • Experience working in or leading AI/ML-focused teams, including familiarity with frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, LangChain, or LlamaIndex.
  • Active in the AI open-source community.
  • Open-source contributions, particularly in the AI or database space.
  • Experience with Redis or other in-memory data systems.
