"text": "Give an agent access to Redis Context Gateway tools through one Model Context Protocol (MCP) connection. The agent discovers tools, chooses which ones to call, and uses their results to answer a question.\n\nThis guide connects an agent to the sample clinic directory and asks:\n\n> Which clinic has the most cardiologists, and how many does it have?\n\nThe agent searches for the provider filter, captures the matching records, and counts them by clinic. You can run the example with OpenAI Agents SDK, LangChain with LangGraph, or Google Agent Development Kit (ADK).\n\nTo use Context Gateway with Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex, see [Connect a coding assistant](https://redis.io/docs/latest/develop/ai/context-engine/context-gateway/mcp#connect-a-coding-assistant).\n\n![A task starts an agent turn. During the turn, the model calls tools through Context Gateway, which calls the MCP servers and Context Surfaces behind it and returns the results. The turn ends with a reply.](https://redis.io/docs/latest/images/ai/context-engine/context-gateway-session.svg)"

It is not required to connect an agent to a Gateway.\n\nSet the Gateway connection values:\n\n[code example]\n\nThe framework connects directly to the Gateway over MCP, so these examples do not require the Gateway SDK. The examples use that text to expose tool identities, handles, and completeness information to the model.\n\nFor example, the separate LangChain MCP adapter stores structured content in a tool artifact while converting MCP content blocks into the tool message. Structured content being available to application code does not by itself establish that the model sees it.\n\nIf required information is missing from model-facing messages, adjust the integration to expose it before relying on the agent's answer.
