Redis Cloud Maintenance Operations

Last updated 22, Mar 2024

Goal

This document aims to provide details about the maintenance operations performed in Redis Cloud.

Solution

Redis Cloud deployments are maintained with operations to correct defects and vulnerabilities and deliver new features to the Redis Cloud DBaaS.

The software version used in new subscriptions and in version upgrades is always the most recent one that Redis Cloud supports. Upgrades are backward compatible, and since this is a managed service, the clients will not see any differences when new versions are used.

Such maintenance operations are performed during a maintenance window. Emails are sent out to clients when the team performs maintenance operations. Clients can ask for an upgrade before the scheduled upgrade window if they need new features they are waiting on. Also, a client cannot negotiate the version used in the cluster.

Note also, from the Redis Enterprise Cloud Service Level Agreement (SLA), that:

“Downtime” does not include scheduled downtime for maintenance or upgrades.
