Redis Labs Reaches 3,000 Paying Customers with Explosive Fifty Percent Growth over Four Months

September 23, 2014

Redis adds strategic customers HotelTonight, Docker, and Bleacher Report

Santa Clara, September 23, 2014—Redis, the leading commercial Redis provider, today announced that the fully-managed Redis service provider has reached 3,000 paying customers. Redis’ Redis Cloud service has proven to be extremely popular among developers who use it to enhance open-source Redis with infinitely scalable, highly available, top performing and fully managed Redis database as a service on popular cloud services. Customers added in the last four months include, Docker, Scopley, Hotel Tonight, and Bleacher Report.

Redis is an in-memory open source NoSQL database that has taken the developer community by storm. As the fastest data store available today, Redis is used for performance-driven use cases such as high-speed transactions, real-time analytics, metrics and ranking, job management, and social capabilities.

Redis Cloud service is offered over popular cloud offerings such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), IBM SoftLayer, Google Cloud Platform, Heroku, IBM Bluemix, and many others.

Redis has achieved explosive growth amongst its paying customer base, which increased more than 50 percent in the past four months. Developers using both Redis Cloud and Memcached Cloud services have created more than 60,000 Redis database instances since the company announced general availability in 2013.

“Redis has become a core part of the developer workflow for web companies as well as startups,” says Ofer Bengal, CEO & Co-Founder of Redis. “Redis Cloud has become a natural choice for developers who demand high performance for their applications and need zero Redis management in order to focus on developing great applications.”

Several major disrupters and tier one industry leaders have deployed Redis Cloud in recent months, including:

  • Bleacher Report. “As the 2nd largest sports site in the world, Bleacher Report handles more than 80 million visitors each month. We rely on Redis to supercharge our app…who else can deliver response in under a couple milliseconds?” – Tung Nguyen, Senior Director of Engineering at Bleacher Report
  • HotelTonight. “If your application is using Redis, then look no further than Redis Cloud. Redis allows you to scale on demand and provides reliability and excellent support. You can focus on building your applications, while Redis Cloud does the scaling magic behind the scenes.” – Jatinder Singh, System Architecture And Ops Lead at HotelTonight
  • Docker. “Redis’ scalability is very important to our application. Redis Cloud allows us to automatically scale up and down with zero downtime in between.” – Ken Cochrane, Engineer at Docker
  • Scopley. “Because of Redis’ performance and service, we have increased our consumption and dependency on Redis as a critical piece of our infrastructure. Some of our highest throughput social features are built on Redis, features that would be much harder to execute without Redis.” – Ankur Bulsara, Co-Founder and CTO at Scopely
