Welcome to “What’s new in two,” the place to catch up on Redis releases you might have missed in the past month. This time, we’re covering the latest developments from September, expanding on what I covered in our latest video. Press play above if you prefer to watch a recap of this month’s updates. Let’s get started.
First, a really exciting update for those who want to become Redis experts! Welcome to the new Redis University. You can now log in with your Redis Cloud account and start learning with the “Get started with Redis” course to make onboarding fast and easy. Explore best practices for operators, including the new “Operate Redis Cloud” path, and enjoy the same great developer-focused content designed to take you from beginner to expert.
Next, we’re happy to announce the release of version 1.8.0 of our Redis Cloud registry in Terraform. This update brings enhancements and feature alignment between our API/UI capability and our Terraform provider to ensure full capability support for our customers who are using IaC. For example, the Redis Cloud Pro subscription has a couple of updates like a new resource for the transit gateway attachment, support for maintenance windows for single region, active-active, and TLS support. Get the full list of updates coming with 1.8.0 here.
Also, in case you missed it: Our Vercel users are pleased about our new release of Redis Cloud Essentials in the Vercel Marketplace. Get started today here. Another cool callout is a new Vercel template that is available for you to test out a quick Redis Cloud deployment. The template is an app for a simple session store example that takes a few minutes to spin up.
Redis Cloud users can now configure the built-in MFA with an authenticator app. Making MFA by SMS is no longer a requirement. Decoupling MFA from text messages is both a security improvement and will help users avoid issues with receiving SMS in restricted countries.
Last but not least, we had our Redis Released London event on September 12, where we continued to speak on the future of fast via our new releases: Redis 8, Redis Data Integration, Redis for AI, and more. The next stop in our event series is NYC on October 17. Check out our event page to see if any seats are left. And if you can’t make it in person, catch us for Redis Released Worldwide, our virtual event on November 6-7.
That wraps up this month’s “What’s new in two.” We’ve looked closer at the latest Redis features and improvements from September. Whether you prefer watching or reading, watch for more valuable updates in my next two-minute episode. September releases are just around the corner, so stay tuned. And if you missed last month’s update, two minutes is all you need to catch up.
