Software Engineer, AI and Search Team - C/C++ or Rust
BulgariaWho we are
We're Redis. We built the product that runs the fast apps our world runs on. (If you checked the weather, used your credit card, or looked at your flight status online today, you’re welcome.) At Redis, you’ll work with the fastest, simplest technology in the business—whether you’re building it, telling its story, or selling it to our 10,000+ worldwide customers. We’re creating a faster world with simpler experiences. You in?
Why would you love this job?
This is a great opportunity to work at the core of Redis’s search and vector capabilities as they evolve for the AI era. You’ll join the Redis Search/Vector team and work on real production systems that power semantic, vector, and hybrid search for millions of developers worldwide.
You’ll collaborate closely with experienced engineers and tech leads, contributing to features that go from design to production, while growing your expertise in high-performance search, vector retrieval, and latency-critical systems.
What you’ll do:
- Implement and optimize core vector and information-retrieval components (e.g., HNSW, quantization, filtering, re-ranking) under guidance
- Work on performance-critical paths, improving latency, throughput, and resource efficiency
- Contribute to solving real-world problems at scale with a focus on correctness, reliability, and maintainability
- Participate in design discussions and code reviews within the Search/Vector team
- Collaborate with Redis Core, Cloud, and Support teams on feature development and issue resolution
- Learn and apply systems-level optimizations (e.g., memory layout, concurrency, SIMD) with mentorship
What you’ll need to have:
- Solid production experience (typically 3–5+ years) building backend, systems, or infrastructure software
- Background in either search / IR / vector systems or systems programming (storage, performance-critical services)
- Proficiency in C/C++ or Rust, with experience writing concurrent and performant code
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to break down tasks and designs with guidance
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
Extra great if you have:
- Familiarity with Redis or other NoSQL databases
- Exposure to vector search, IR concepts, or ML-adjacent systems
- Experience with Rust (or strong interest in learning it)
- Contributions to open-source projects
- Experience working on multithreaded or performance-sensitive systems
