Privacy Policy

Redis Ltd. and/or their applicable affiliates (“Redis”, “us”, or “we”) are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) informs you of our policies and procedures regarding the collection, use and disclosure of data relating to identified or identifiable natural persons (“Personal Data”), such as when you: (i) visit www.redis.io (including any subdomains of this website or other websites owned by us or operated on our behalf) (the “Site”); and (ii) trial, purchase download and/or subscribe to our cloud services or software (the “Services” or “Software”, respectively). This Policy applies to Personal Data that you provide us through the Site, Services, or Software (collectively the “Products”) or when you access or use any content appearing on the Site or made available through the Products, that we collect on your behalf as part of the Products’ use, or that we process to market the Products to prospective and current customers.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Personal Data You Provide

As a condition to your use of the Products, we will ask you to provide us with certain Personal Data that we can use to contact or identify you and administer your account. We may be required by law to collect Personal Data, or as a consequence of any contractual relationship we may have. Failure to provide this Personal Data may prevent or delay the fulfillment of these obligations. The Personal Data that we collect includes your name, company name, job title, email address, telephone number, contact person details and financial information such as your credit/debit card details, your bank account details and/or your mailing address. As a paying user of the Service, we will receive your payment transaction details from the payment service provider that processed your payment. When you contact us, or when we contact you, we will receive and process any Personal Data that you provide us. When you fill out forms on our Site, we will receive and process any Personal Data that you provide us.

1.2 Personal Data We Automatically Collect

When you access the Site or use the Products, we collect the following:

  1. Information regarding your acquisition and use of the Products;
  2. Information that your browser sends whenever you visit the Site or use the Products (“Log Data”). This Log Data could include, for example, IP address, browser type, login information, the web page you were visiting before you came to the Site and information you search for on the Site;
  3. Information collected by analytical tools about your visit, including the full Site (uniform resource locators (URL)) clickstream (history) to, through and from our Site (including date and time);
  4. Products you viewed or searched for, page response times, download errors, length of visits to certain pages, page interaction information (such as scrolling, clicks and mouse-overs), and methods used to browse away from the page.

When you use a widget or any other tool that may be offered by us, whether on the Site or on a third party website, including a website owned or operated by you, we may record data related to that activity, the deployment of the widget or tool and any other account related data.

1.3 Personal Data From Events

When you attend events created by Redis or events where Redis is an exhibitor, we may collect contact information from registration lists, contact information from badge scans, photographs, and videos. Please see our Events Privacy Policy for more details.

1.4 Personal Data We Obtain From Third Parties

We may collect Personal Data from third parties, such as business contact suppliers, to support our marketing activities. The Personal Data we collect in this manner generally includes name, company name, job title, email address, and telephone number. 

1.5 Third Party Sites

This Privacy Policy applies only to our Site and the Products. We do not exercise control over other websites that provide information, banners, advertisements or links from within the Site or the Products. These other sites may place their own cookies or other files on your computer, collect data or solicit Personal Data from you. Other websites follow different rules regarding the use or disclosure of the Personal Data that you submit. We encourage you to read the privacy policies and other terms of the other websites.

1.6 Payment Service Providers

By using Products subject to a fee and/or when making a purchase from us, you may be required to use our third-party partners (“Partners”) and/or trusted payment processors and/or credit agencies (referred to collectively as, “Payment Service Providers”).

Your use of such Payment Service Provider services will be governed by their own terms of use and privacy policy statement, which apply to their collection of your financial information, such as credit card information.

To the extent permitted by law, such information resulting from a transaction by you (except for certain confidential payment data), could be shared by such Payment Service Provider with us. We are not liable for any use or disclosure of information that Payment Service Providers receive from you. 

You acknowledge and agree that any credit card and/or other billing and payment information that you provide directly to us may be shared by us with the Payment Service Providers solely for the purposes of checking credit, effecting payment to us, and servicing your account. 

We may retain and use such information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, establish, or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims and enforce our agreements.

1.7 Job Applicants

We collect personal data from job applicants to evaluate their candidacy for employment. This may include, but is not limited to, contact details, professional qualifications, educational history, work experience, and references. We may also process additional information as permitted or required by local laws, such as diversity and inclusion-related data where applicable.

1.8 Market Research

If you participate in surveys, we may use your Personal Data to carry out market research. This research is conducted for our internal business and training purposes and will improve our understanding of our users‘ demographics, interests and behavior. This research is compiled and analyzed on an aggregated basis and therefore does not individually identify any user. 

2. How We Use Information Collected

2.1 Personal Data is used for the following purposes:

  1. to provide the Products; 
  2. to administer your use of the Products and any accounts you may have with us; 
  3. to personalize your product and website experience; 
  4. to provide to you Products announcements, outages, and updates;
  5. to communicate with you, such as by providing information or offers (including newsletters, targeted advertising, and other sales,  marketing or promotional materials) about our Products or third parties’ products or services that we believe you may find useful or interesting;
  6. to enforce our Terms;
  7. to comply with court orders and warrants, and assist law enforcement agencies, to collect debts, prevent fraud, misappropriation, infringements, identity thefts and any other misuse of the Service, and to take any action in any legal dispute or proceeding; 
  8. to resolve any disputes between users of the Site and us; and 
  9. as described in Section 3: Information Sharing and Disclosure

2.2 We use information that is not classified as personal data for the above purposes and to:

  1. monitor and analyze use of the Products and for the technical administration of the Site;
  2. improve the Site and the Products;
  3. generate and derive useful data and information concerning the interests, characteristics and Site use behavior of our users; and
  4. verify that users of the Products meet the criteria required to process their requests.

We use information collected on the Site in the aggregate to better understand your use of the Site and to enhance your enjoyment and experience. This data is used for statistical purposes as well as to help customize the user experience as you browse the Site. For further information, see Section 3.2: Aggregated and Analytical Information

2.3 Combined Information

We combine certain Personal Data with non-Personal Data to allow us to create information packages and services that are better tailored to your interests and preferences. Among other things, linking this information may allow us generally to improve and personalize the Site and the Products. If we combine or link any information with your Personal Data, the resulting combination will be treated as Personal Data under this Policy. 

3. Information Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent or lease your Personal Data. We will share your Personal Data with service providers and other third parties, if necessary to fulfill the purposes for collecting the information. Any such third party will commit to protect your privacy as required under the applicable law and this policy. 

3.1 Service Providers

We may employ third party companies and individuals to facilitate the Products, to provide the Products on our behalf and to perform services related to administration of the Products or the Site (including, without limitation, bill and credit card payment processing, maintenance, hosting and database management services and administration).

These third parties are only provided the information necessary to perform these tasks on our behalf and are obligated to comply with this Policy by written agreement. Outside of these tasks, these third parties are prohibited from utilizing the information for any other purpose.

3.2 Aggregated and Analytical Information 

We may share aggregated information generated as a result of your use of the Products, that includes non-personally identifiable information and Log Data, with third parties for industry analysis, demographic profiling, other commercial purposes and to deliver targeted advertising about other products and services.

We use analytical tools to learn about what products are used and how users utilize the Products, in support of our Product-related activities and operations.

3.3 Compliance with Laws and Law Enforcement

We cooperate with government and law enforcement officials and private parties in response to lawful requests and to comply with the law.

We will disclose any information about you to government or law enforcement officials or private parties if we believe it is necessary:

  1. to respond to lawful requests by public authorities, including to meet law enforcement or national security requirements, claims or legal processes (including but not limited to subpoenas);to protect our or a third party’s property rights;
  2. to protect the safety of the public or any person; and
  3. to prevent or stop any activity we may consider to be posing a risk of being illegal, unethical, inappropriate or legally actionable.

4. Your Rights

4.1 Access and Correction

You can verify, correct, or update your personal data. Specifically, you can:

  1. Confirm whether we process your personal data;
  2. Receive copies to check accuracy and the legality of our processing;
  3. Correct or delete any personal data that is inaccurate or processed in violation of the law. We ensure the privacy of third-party data when fulfilling your requests.

4.2 Deletion

You have the right to request the removal of your personal data from our systems.

4.3 Objection and Restriction

You may object to our processing of your personal data or request restrictions on how we use it.

4.4 Marketing Communications and Targeted Advertising 

You may opt out of marketing communications and withdraw consent for data processing at any time. Upon opting out, we will cease all non-essential outbound communications. However, you will still receive transactional messages necessary for account management or service-related issues, such as confirmations for webinar registrations, product updates, or billing information.

Please note that personalization of your website experience, based on your usage patterns, may persist after unsubscribing from marketing emails. To manage this personalization, you can adjust your cookie preferences or utilize the Global Privacy Control (GPC) settings in your browser. Web browsers may transmit a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal, which indicates your choice to opt out of tracking across services and websites. However, our Service may not respond to all browser-based DNT signals.

4.5 Account Termination

Termination of your account and cessation of Site use must comply with your subscription agreement terms. Account holders may find the termination option in their account settings. If this option is not available to you, please reach out to Support. We will retain and use existing data as outlined in our data retention policy.

4.6 How to Exercise Your Choices and Rights

You can exercise your choice by visiting the Redis Privacy Request Form as well as visiting the Marketing Communication Preferences page. Both forms are listed in Section 12: Contact Us.  If you are having issues with these forms, please contact us as referenced in Section 12: Contact Us, and provide a detailed description of your request and issue(s) relating to the above obligations. If you are submitting a request through an authorized agent, the authorized agent must provide us with your signed written permission stating that the agent is authorized to make the request on your behalf. We may also request that any authorized agents verify their identity and may reach out to you directly to confirm that you have provided the agent with your permission to submit the request on your behalf. 

5. Data Security

We are concerned with safeguarding your Personal Data. We employ a variety of measures designed to protect your Personal Data from unauthorized access and disclosure. We implement systems, applications and procedures to secure your Personal Data, to minimize the risks of theft, damage, loss of information, or unauthorized access or use of information.

We take reasonable steps to maintain the security of the Personal Data that we collect, including data minimization and least privileged access. We also implement encryption in transit and at rest, where applicable. We strongly encourage customers to enable TLS on all their databases. If you have been given log-in details to provide you with access to certain parts of our Site, you are responsible for keeping those details confidential.

If you receive an email asking you to update your Personal Data, do not reply and please contact us.

6. Data Retention

We retain different types of information for different periods, depending on the purposes for processing the information, our legitimate business purposes as well as pursuant to legal requirements under the applicable law.

We retain Personal Data as part of our Products data, to provide our customers with the Products and as needed to perform our business activities. We also maintain contact details, to help us stay in contact with you.

We may need to keep the information about the payment transactions that you made due to tax related requirements, for accounts settling, record keeping, archiving and legal purposes.

We may keep aggregated non-identifiable information without limitation, and to the extent reasonable we will delete or de-identify potentially identifiable information, when we no longer need to process the information.

Customer data shall be disposed of in accordance with the customer’s contractual agreement. 

7. International Processing or Transfer

Part of our Products is a web-based service. We store and process information collected (as defined in Section 1) within the European Union, the United States, and certain Asia locations including Japan, on our cloud-based services’ websites. 

From time to time, we will make operational decisions which will have an impact on the websites in which we maintain Personal Data. We make sure that our data hosting service providers provide us with adequate confidentiality and security commitments.

Transfers of data within Redis are covered under the Redis Data Processing Addendum and Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).

8. Our Policy Toward Children

If you are under the age of 16, you do not have permission to use the Site or the Products. We do not knowingly collect Personal Data from children under the age of 16.

If you are between the ages of 16 and 18, please let your parent or guardian know about this Policy and get their permission before you give us any of your Personal Data.

If a parent or guardian becomes aware that his or her child has provided us with Personal Data without their consent, they should contact us. If we become aware that a minor has provided us with Personal Data, we will delete such information from our files. 

9. Redis Copilot

We have launched My Data Redis Copilot (“Redis Copilot”), an artificial intelligence-driven chatbot currently powered by OpenAI API or any other service provider as determined subsequently for this purpose by us (the “Third-Party GPT”) that enhances user interaction and provides valuable assistance to any user of Redis Insight.

When you make a submission (“Input”) to Redis Copilot, Redis Copilot generates responses (“Output”) based on your Input and the relevant information in relation to such Input stored in your Redis Insight database (the “Content”). To do so, the Input and the Content will be transmitted to our systems, which will transmit it to the Third-Party GPT for a generated Output. As a result, Redis Copilot and the Third-Party GPT may process Personal Data included in your database. We advise you to review any privacy policies and practices prior to the use of Redis Copilot. Any transmission of Content to the Third-Party GPT will only be used for the purposes of generating Output and improving user experience.

In the event that we are determined to be a processor (as defined by the EU General Data Protection Regulation, or other equivalent term as defined by applicable privacy laws), the Redis Data Processing Addendum shall apply.

10. Dispute Resolution

We do periodical assessments of our data processing and privacy practices, to make sure that we comply with this Policy, to update the Policy when we believe that we need to, and to verify that we display the Policy properly and in an accessible manner. If you have any concerns about the way we process your Personal Data, please contact us as described in Section 12: Contact Us. We will look into your query and make good-faith efforts to resolve any existing or potential dispute with you. 

11. Incorporation to the Terms of Use

This Policy is an integral part of our Site Terms and Redis Cloud Terms of Use or, if applicable, of any other Product subscription agreement entered into between you (or the entity that you are acting on its behalf) and us.

13. Changes 

We will update this Policy from time to time. If we make any changes to this Policy, we will post a notice of these changes on the Site and in this Policy.

If the updates have minor if any consequences, they will take effect 7 days after we post a notice on the Site. If there are substantial changes there will be effective 30 days after we initially posted.

Until the new Policy takes effect, if it materially reduces the protection of your privacy rights moving forward (with the understanding that any Personal Data previously collected will be treated as it would have been under the previously existing Policy) you can choose not to accept it and terminate your use of the Products.

Continuing to use the Products after the new Policy takes effect means that you agree to the new Policy. Note that if we need to adapt the Policy to legal requirements, the new Policy will become effective immediately or as required by law. 

Addendum 1

US Consumer Privacy Notice

This U.S. Consumer Privacy Notice applies to “consumers” as defined under state privacy laws, including those in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Iowa, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Virginia (collectively, the “U.S. States”)

If the EU General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) or other data protection laws from the EEA, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland govern the processing of your Personal Data, the following terms are applicable:

Please note that fully deleting your Personal Data from our active servers and backup systems may take time after your deletion request.
