Welcome to “What’s new in two,” the place to catch up on Redis releases you might have missed. This time, we’re covering the latest developments from August, expanding on what I covered in our latest video. Press play above if you prefer watching a recap of this month’s updates. Let’s get started.

Summer release

In case you missed it, Redis launched its summer release on August 23rd featuring new products and features aimed at one thing: helping devs build fast apps faster. Here are the highlights from that release, starting with Redis for AI.

Faster GenAI apps with Redis for AI

Redis for AI addresses a common challenge in AI—

getting into production faster. This package of tools includes everything from Redis as a vector database to semantic caching, LLM ecosystem integrations, agentic memory, feature store, and more. See our full suite of fast AI tools here

Reduce in-memory costs by up to 80% with Redis Flex

If you’re familiar with Redis, you already know that using flash memory isn’t new. But with this summer release, Redis Flex is now a first-party service with the acquisition of SpeeDB, opening up more use cases than ever before. There’s more coming with our flash offering, so keep your eye on it.

Introducing Redis 8

This update has me pumped—our Community Edition is now fully equipped with all of the Redis Stack features. This makes Redis Community Edition the most advanced and well-supported Redis to get started with.

And these features are a big deal! From new data types like JSON, time series, probabilistic, and geospatial to powerful search and query capabilities, including vector search. That’s right,  one of the most desired Redis Cloud features is coming to the free version of Redis. Now, you’ll be able to find, filter, aggregate, and sort through millions of records quickly with search and query.

Redis 8 is coming soon. Keep your eye out on our latest releases for Redis Community Edition to get these great features and more.

Redis Copilot coming to Redis Insight

Your visual assistant for all things Redis is here. Redis Copilot is free and generally available in Redis Insight, and it’s not just another chatbot. It helps you with questions about your data, not just what’s in Redis docs. You’ll get custom code written specifically for your dataset.

We also released a Redis-supported Visual Studio Code extension, so you can easily build with Redis right in your IDE.

Redis Data Integration (RDI) coming to Redis Cloud

We just announced Redis Data Integration (RDI) too. Coming soon on Redis Cloud and GA on Redis Software, RDI is designed to make your apps faster and provide data federation without needing to redesign your entire data strategy. Using automated data pipelines, RDI syncs data from your existing databases to Redis with minimal setup. I’ve been hands-on with RDI for about a year now, and it’s by far the easiest way to integrate data from external sources with Redis.

Book a meeting with our sales team to get a spot on the private preview for RDI in Redis Cloud.
